User instructions for the CatAlert Mark II The CatAlert(TM) is an Electronic Sonic Collar for domestic cats. It emits a beep every seven seconds, which alerts birds and prevents cats attacking them. The continuous beeping makes the birds aware of the presence of the cat and allows them to evade capture. Studies show that if cats in Britain wore a sonic collar, then 36 million birds could be saved every year. The beeping noise can be switched on and off by the owner e.g. so that the collar can be silent when the cat is indoors. The collar can also be switched so that it automatically stops beeping in the dark (light sensor). Alternatively it can be switched so that it beeps both night and day. A bell is attached to the collars as the RSPB claims that this too has a positive effect. The collars have a snappy safety catch (recommended by the Feline Advisory Bureau) that will release automatically if the cat gets hung up. If the sounder is off and you wish to switch it on: 1.Press the button briefly 2.You will hear one long beep followed by two short beeps 3.The device will now beep every 7 seconds. If the sounder is on and you want to switch it off: 1.Press the button briefly 2.You will hear one long beep followed by one short beep 3.The device will now remain silent If you want CatAlert to stop beeping automatically in the dark: 1.Press the button and keep it pressed. You will hear a long beep followed by a second beep 2.Release the button immediately 3.You will hear four short beeps - it will stop beeping automatically in the dark. 4.If the sounder is on, it should continue beeping every seven seconds in the light. When it becomes dark or if you cover the light sensor, the device stops beeping. If you want CatAlert to beep both night and day: 1.Press the button and keep it pressed. You will hear a long beep followed by a second beep. 2.Release the switch immediately 3.You will hear three short beeps indicating that it will beep both night and day. 4.If the sounder is on, it should continue beeping every seven seconds, even when it becomes dark or if the light sensor is covered. CatAlert is powered by two Panasonic or Samsung CR2016 button batteries, which should last for about a year. Collars can be returned, for the batteries to be replaced (£5.00 inc.pp). Cost of collar postage in UK is £0.61 LARGE First Class stamp. ![]() |
